In the EPIGENE blockchain system, which is planned for Phase 2, information will be organized into blocks, each containing a genetic sequence and its analysis or a group of sequences and analyses. These blocks will be interconnected in a cryptographic chain, forming a continuous sequence. This design ensures that tampering with the blocks becomes extremely difficult. To maintain the integrity of the data, a consensus mechanism will be employed to validate and agree upon each piece of genetic information within the blocks. This mechanism guarantees the accuracy and authenticity of the transactions.

By utilizing this blockchain technology in Phase 2, EPIGENE will be able to achieve a secure decentralization of patients’ genetic information through the active participation of network members. This decentralized nature eliminates a central point of failure and prevents any single user from altering the transaction records.
